Recently Michael Segal asked us to design and make a 14x10v Musée album in gorgeous black embossed leather. I could show you the cover, I guess, but I'm not allowed to open it and show you round. Michael won't let us because his clients would…not be pleased. So all I can say is that it's the wedding of X and Y, held … somewhere. Among the guests are A, B, C and, oh, D, not to mention E and F. Most of them have worked together. When Michael asked Heather how she thought the book had turned out, she replied, "I think it looks beautiful. I feel very privileged to have been involved. "It's such To View More >>

It's amazing how often we see people talking online about fixing a problem by "reinstalling the software". I just did a quick double-check round the guys and we don't normally recommend "reinstalling" as a strategy for fixing software issues. In fact, if you reinstall, the problem you're trying to fix is likely to remain or even get worse. That's because your user database will still be there and that's where a problem could lurk and cause trouble even after the cause has been dealt with via a bug fix. BTW don't delete your user database unless you want to lose all your past work! If you have persistent To View More >>

I got reminded today that I haven't mentioned the follow-up to David Ziser's "perfect storm" post, which I recommended a few weeks ago. You can find Part 2 here. It's interesting reading and I hope you check it out. David's saying that, despite all the factors working against professional photography you're not doomed! There's light at the end of the tunnel. But quality and service aren't enough, so what does it take to succeed? Quite a lot really: "…product innovation, responsiveness to the client, studio-client “stickiness”, product diversity, creative marketing, full understanding of social To View More >>

Hi All, we need a favour. Our newest recruit, Angelique, is taking some time off to have a baby. (Congrats again to Angelique and Pete.) But while Angelique is off on leave we'll need a temporary replacement to help with Photojunction support - answering emails, phone calls, tweets, and Facebook posts (with a dash of blogging). You can work from home (as New Zealand can be a killer commute) and use your own computer. Other than that we'll sort you out with software and a phone to get the job done. Here are a few details: - Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm EST (If you can't figure out how those hours To View More >>

What if you want us to print your cover image, but nothing else? 1. When you fire up the Remix Order Wizard , choose either the "Assemble From Prints Supplied" or Don't Assemble" option. 2. On the same screen the Wizard will offer a place to include "support files" for your album supplier. Open your folder of High-Res Export files and drag in a copy of the cover image (don't double up by sending it to your lab to print as well). 3. Remix may ask you if you want us to print the cover image (generally it'll be obvious what you want, in which case Remix won't ask). Be sure to say Yes. 4. When the To View More >>

A while back, in a post about the problem reporter, Ian listed all the possible issues that might pop up in the problem reporter. Beyond alignment, the most common issue seems to be problems with images. The problem most users encounter is missing high res files. The next two are missing low res files, and HR and LR files that do not match. Both the last two problems have the same solution, which I'll talk about here. The Low Res files that Photojunction is referring to are the Low Res Proxies that are created when you import your images into your event. These files are what allow you to layout To View More >>

These articles are about strategies to combat the recession. I ended my last post by posing the question on everyone's lips: what happens if my bookings drop? You'll need to have read my previous post to make sense of what follows, but to recap, based on the numbers in the graphic below, if I get 30 wedding bookings and average $5000 per job my income is $71k. If I could get 40 bookings I'd make $114k, even if my average dropped to $4600. All good, but what happens if I can only get 20 bookings? The answer is my income drops to $28k! I could still achieve my $100k income goal with just 20 weddings To View More >>

Follow the links for "the story so far" in our series on the recession... Yes, times will be tough for a while but you shouldn't assume the sky is falling. It makes no sense to sacrifice your business and market reputation to survive the short term challenge. Instead you may need to pull your horns in and find ways to prosper while others decline. A good place to start is by analysing your budget and business model, and we have a spreadsheet to help with that. Most people react to the threat of declining sales by saying, "I've gotta cut my costs". Everyone needs to work out their own figures, but To View More >>

On a quiet day we get over 50,000 spam emails! One of us alone used to have 3-4000 to deal with. Lucky them. Of course we screen spam in the normal way. In the past we even used to check to see if anything legitimate had been filtered out. It happens occasionally with all filtering systems. But the sheer flood of spam has made this impossible, and forced us to tighten our procedures. If you suspect that your email is not getting through please phone (don't email!) and let us know. We will put your email address on a "white list" to ensure we receive it in future. Best wishes from the Queensberry To View More >>

If you do need to contact us during this time, please email us at info@photojunction.com and our support team will be in touch. We apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause, we'll be back on line as quickly as we can. To View More >>
