Wow, last Friday we offered 200 sample books and albums discounted by 50% (instead of the normal 25%). Well, it blew the doors off the OP department. They had 200 acceptances and counting before the email had even finished sending! So first we need to say "thank you". Second, we can hardly say No to people who's email address starts with "Z", or who happened to be asleep in the "wrong" time zone, so if you've already contacted us we'll definitely do the deal for you. Just a few Buts (sorry!): - Don't forget they're for samples only, and (new policy, so pardon the repetition) marked "not for resale". To View More >>

Just a final reminder that we close for our Summer shutdown at 3pm NZT today 22 December 2011, and re-open at 8am 16 January 2012. A few of our office team will be back on the 9th. Our phones will be unattended until then but you can leave a message or email us with any questions or queries. We'll be checking messages from time to time, but will reply to non-urgent matters when we get back. We hope you have a safe and happy holiday. All the best from everyone at Queensberry. It has been a busy year for Queensberry. We brought in the Press Book/Album range and along with that came a whole lot of new queries. Introducing a new product or feature sure keeps us on our toes. In fact sometimes there's a race between our very switched on customers and us here in tech support to find out what the latest version of Photojunction has to offer. I would like to say Merry Christmas from our tech support team to everyone who has emailed, talked and done screen sharing sessions with us. We all hope that our efforts made your lives a little easier. As you would be aware from recent To View More >>

[caption id="attachment_7050" align="alignleft" width="200" caption="Musée 10x7 dark tan; photography and page layout design by Johannes van Kan"][/caption] If you read my Musée story recently, you’ll recall it ended with a cliff-hanger … but it turned out well. You may remember we’d made an album featuring Christian [Oth's] images, but he'd never seen it. We were nervous. Well we finally did catch up, and he loved it. Then Johannes [van Kan’s] album of Virginia and Richard’s wedding won at WPPI. You can view his complete album on Youtube (no audio) or Vimeo (recommended: this is the To View More >>

Photography by Johannes van Kan I hope you have a blog. They're a perfect marketing vehicle for photographers, and they're free. Photograph every album before you present it to your client, write a post about them, their day and their album, and send them the link. Just like all our new possessions (and this is a very special one) they'll want to show their friends and family, talk about it and (hopefully!) recommend the person who created it for them (you). What could be better? And don't forget to promote your blog on your website, in your email signature and in your fliers etc. To get you To View More >>

If capturing a fleeting moment thrills you … if beautiful colour makes your heart beat faster … if you dream about composition in your sleep… if you love telling stories with pictures - we'd love to hear from you. We're after images to showcase on our website and in our new season sample albums and books, as well as in our blogs and marketing pieces. We’re looking for sets of around 80 images, but to enter all you have to do is send us TEN low-res images* from up to TWO different events - a wedding, portrait session, or whatever you happen to shoot - and email them to us at showcase@queensberry.com. Things have a habit of creeping up on you, as our friends at Seldex have reminded us by sending an email to their clients reminding them that come July they won't be able to use Photojunction's cover design and Send Order functions. (We announced as much here back in February.) We've counted Seldex as friends for years – in fact they sold Queensberry albums in Australia back in the day! - so this is a rather sad time, the culmination of a process that started to unfold a couple of years ago when we realised that most suppliers weren't going to support PJ as a universal album design tool, which To View More >>

Most artists sign their work and as a photographer you probably (very rightly) want to 'leave your mark' somewhere on your images. So what are your options when it comes to including your studio name or logo in Queensberry albums and press books? Here are some actual examples: On press books you have the option of placing the studio or photographer's name on the back of designable covers: The inside flaps of dust jackets are a subtle place to include your logo or any further studio details like your website address: Titles are the most common place to include a studio name, and all of our templates To View More >>

Welcome to the second interview in our series featuring clients whose businesses are thriving despite the current economic climate. Click here to read the first interview with Christian Oth. In the same year they had their first child, Chris and Darcie Siiteri started their Austin (Texas) photography business, Innovative Photography. Fifteen years later they’re still at it and doing better than ever. I gave an initially nervous Darcie an early morning call to chat about how they approach their album sales, and what they do to ensure their clients have an amazing experience and to foster relationships To View More >>

Remember the very first time you sent a letter? (Or for those who have never posted a letter - sent an email?) There were doubts - would it get there? Would strangers look at it in transit? Did I have enough postage? Did I have the right address? Do I trust the postie to take great care of my efforts? The same goes with sending orders to Queensberry through Photojunction for the first time. We need assurances that I know, as a very regular user, become less relevant with experience. Photojunction has many 'safety' features to prevent people from mucking up their orders. These safety features exist To View More >>
