Three quick tips to simplify album design. 1. Avoid unnecessary repetition (eg this is the bride looking slightly left, straight ahead, and slightly right) unless you make your profits from the number of images you sell. 2. Embrace open space (especially in sample albums - lead by example). 3. Offer a two album option that allows people to have lots of images without overcrowding. While I'm mentioning 'leading by example': If you don't make a sample album from each order, at least make each design into a slideshow you can show prospective clients. What does a photographer do when their client wants something ‘a bit different’ for their wedding day? Ask Steve and Heidi of Aim 2 Please Photography. That’s exactly what they were asked by Katherine and Steve who were married at a stunning golf course resort north of Toronto on a warm spring day. The bride and groom were married by the bride's Grandparents, who are both members of the Salvation Army, then headed off to several locations around the resort where Steve and Heidi has set specific shots up. They posed with chairs in a grassy field, under a white canopy bed and set up a shoot To View More >>

This impeccably shot and designed album nearly got away from us. We didn't photograph it before we shipped it, and we were too late contacting the studio before they sent it to their clients! But it's too beautiful not to show you as much as we can, which fortunately includes a slide show of the album. We love its natural, restrained good taste – professional wedding photography at its best, and typical of the consistently good work Geoff White sends us. Liz and Adam choose Meadowood, St. Helena, in California's wine country as the location for their destination wedding on May 19th last year. To View More >>

It’s no wonder Luke and Chantal’s wedding album caught our attention. For starters, there were three albums, not one, and the first two featured the most amazing celebrations at a fabulous location. We certainly did “wish we were there”. Luke and Chantal were married in April 2007 in Mauritius, East Africa. Chantal had wanted to have her wedding at The One and Only, Mauritius since she was a little girl and spent time there with her family. The festivities lasted five days and included a welcoming cocktail hour, beach Olympics, a salsa party (featuring Emilio Estevez and his salsa dancers) To View More >>

The IT guys are very excited because Queensberry is about to implement a major network upgrade, including a change of providers. We won't know ourselves when it's done. [caption id="attachment_7717" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Click to view image full-size"][/caption] It's been said that the first rule of online social media is, Invest your time, not your money. Which is why it's so hard to do. Let's face it – who has the time? So how about a marketing opportunity that requires just a button-click? We've just snuck (if that's a word) a new feature into Queensberry's Photojunction Resources, and judging by the emails already coming in it's going to be a popular idea. If we're printing and assembling your album, you'll see a question asking if you'd To View More >>

Well we're delighted with the response and feedback we're getting to the new Directory – and apart from a couple of tweets and one post we haven't even mentioned it. So, some feedback on your feedback. 1. We haven't found anything buggy yet (that's tempting fate). If your listing doesn't show up, you don't have an active account, your web address hasn't been entered or has a typo, you're searching for it in the wrong location or you haven't completed the set-up (especially "Step 1"). The solution to all those is to log on and click on “Set Up Directory Listing”. Do tell people about your To View More >>

Between you and me, we've just quietly published Queensberry's Photographer Directory. Check it out here and tell us what you think. Enter your own location and you'll probably see we've "auto-published" you (provided we have your website details – that's public after all) but if you'd like to edit and approve your listing, you can do so by logging on to your account on our secure website and clicking on "Set Up Directory Listing". You can edit your location, tell people something about your studio, and add your Email, Twitter and FaceBook details. (There were people working on their listings To View More >>
