Simon and Sophie were married in Taormina, Sicily after choosing a destination wedding for them and their friends and family. They were photographed by Phil Drinkwater from Manchester. Their wedding day preparation began in their traditional Sicilian Villa and the ceremony took place at the end of the main street in an old building via an interpreter. A key moment was walking through the street towards the bar for canapés with the Sicilians passing by wishing them congratulations - a truly unique experience. They spent the rest of the day chatting with friends while taking in the stunning views To View More >>

For Jo and Simon of Shoot Lifestyle Photography, several Annabel Williams' photographic training books provided the eye opener they needed to see the wedding industry wasn't quite as 'naff' as they thought... Seven years on, they've just been awarded the Annabel Williams CPT Award, for the Queensberry sponsored Wedding Album Category. Jo says, "This was a real life wedding album we'd designed for clients Andy and Lisa." Their wedding took place in a quirky little tavern which Jo says exposed some beautiful natural light. The light doesn't last long on a UK winters day though, so they had to To View More >>

Here's a very cool wedding video in stop-motion, created by Auckland team Bayly & Moore. "Marina + Andy got married in immaculately detailed style in the gorgeous old Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy. Featuring a classic town hall, an inside swing, brand new moustaches, vintage fur trimmings and a New York finish, these guys nailed every wonderful moment!" Music by Jinja Safari. Happy Thursday! That's a question we've been asked a few times, and the answer is different for Press Books and Press Albums. Books are inherently more affordable than albums – although as the saying goes you can really pimp your ride with Queensberry’s Press Books: translucents, art papers, leather covers, Mayu cases, the works. In fact it’s surprised (and gratified) us a bit how many of you have gone for the upmarket options. On the other hand, with Press Albums the challenge was two-fold: to offer something you couldn’t get with our classic albums (art papers in particular) and to strike a dramatically To View More >>

Rebecca & Gary were married at St. Peter's church, East Drayton in Lincolnshire followed by a marquee reception on the bride's parents farm. They were photographed by Simon Mark Whitten of Firehorse Photography. This wedding was a 'classic English' summer wedding (picturesque country church, marquee, vintage Jaguar car, blue skies and sunshine) with a real outdoor feel and flavour with some stunning and delicate design touches by the bride herself. Rebecca imported the flowers in from the Netherlands and made pretty much all of the flower arrangement and 'vintage' detailing herself, with some To View More >>

Why not design your albums in Photoshop or InDesign? A lot of people do, and they're great applications – we depend on them both ourselves. A few thoughts … Adobe don't think designing your albums in Photoshop is a good idea. That's not what it's for. Adobe's page layout software is InDesign. So how much does InDesign know about wedding and portrait photographers, their workflow, their albums and their suppliers? InDesign doesn't know what DPI your lab needs, or what file type, or what size the printed layouts should be, or about bleed and trim requirements, or what colour management processes To View More >>

Heading back to where they first met, Stephanie and Adam married in the hilly pastures of rural Berkshires, just west of Massachusetts. Their naturally beautiful day was captured by Danielle Zielinski . They chose a remote farm as the perfect venue and married on a grassy knoll under a cherry tree; then shared drinks on the lawn, and celebrated at their reception in the barn. Danielle’s brief was to capture the natural, unstructured beauty of the day – and it was this style that inspired the design of the album, and presentation of the photographs. A Rimu timber cover set the natural tone To View More >>

I've gathered enough gongs now to qualify for an opinion on album design. Last week I was a judge for the Australian Professional Photography Awards at PMA in Melbourne. This was an honour I shared with the lovely Jo Grams, Jerry Ghionis, Jackie Chan, Yervant and other luminaries. Several things became apparent: 1) Some authors treated the album as a set of individual prints, mixing black and whites with colours, verticals with horizontals, with blatant disregard for the influence of those images on each other. 2) Some authors were hypnotised by the ability to apply a filter to create a look ...
