Wedding and portrait photographers are lucky. There is an automatic point of difference built into the core of our businesses - our photography. Other businesses selling books, bricks or ice-creams are dealing with the same commodities and therefore need to make their businesses about something other than the product, such as service, fast delivery or lifestyle branding. We start out with a product that is already differentiated - and what do many of us do? We try our hardest to look like other photographers. Why? If we use the same actions, poses and website colours as our competitors, what To View More >>

Jennifer and Jonathan Mulzer were married on the 21st of October, 2010. Although they call Indianapolis, Indiana home, they celebrated a lovely destination wedding amidst the rolling hills of Sonoma, California’s wine country. They were photographed by Amanda and Nate Reynolds of Turtle Pond Photography. "It was a beautiful, intimate wedding with fifty of their closest friends and family. The 360 degree view of endless vineyards and a breathtaking sunset created the perfect backdrop for their very special day. The entire celebration was blanketed with so much joy, love, delicious food, dancing, To View More >>

David and Sarah Henry recently blogged about receiving their first Queensberry album... "Wow! ... This company is making albums that will get handed on to the future generations as a bespoke family reference. "Our first album, a sample based on Dave and Katie's gorgeous wedding, arrived in our studio and has blown us away. It's an 18x10 Duo (a combination of digital and matted pages) with a Blueberry leather cover and ivory pages. It's absolutely beautiful. "We felt such beautiful photos warranted the impact of a large gorgeous album such as this." Click here to view more images of Dave and Katie's To View More >>

Michael and Anna Costa have been touring the US over the past few months sharing their secrets at PUG conferences and events. We're their preferred album supplier so we designed an 18x12 Duo for them to take on tour. The objective was to demonstrate the value of differentiation: how great presentation can help you stand out and build your studio profile. So how did it go? We received this note from them: "I wanted to tell you the album is drop dead gorgeous. The hundreds of people that saw it absolutely loved it! It couldn't have got a better response. "There’s just nothing quite like a Queensberry To View More >>

Melanie and Neil were married on 07/07/07, possibly one of the luckiest days in a hundred years, so Melissa Worthington couldn’t help but laugh when she saw a lucky penny laid out for the sole of Melanie’s shoe – a Southern tradition. The couple married in the quaint town of Onancock, where Melanie grew up, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. Melanie’s history runs deep within the town, and they chose to celebrate family history and small town tradition to make the day unique: the reception was held in a mansion once owned by the doctor who delivered Melanie's grandmother. Melissa and Sam were To View More >>

When your first ever album order catches Queensberry’s eye you’ve got to be pretty pleased with yourself. Especially when you designed it in a program you’ve never used before. Keryn Sweeney of Keryn Maree Photographer recently opened her studio in Auckland, New Zealand, and shot and designed this little gem as a studio sample for the beauty side of her business - an area she’s had plenty of experience in. Keryn recognises the benefits of offering her clients albums, but although she'd come from a well-established beauty and glamour studio she'd never used them before. When it came to choosing To View More >>

Time and time again we see albums pass through our Bindery in which the photographer has reflected the stylistic theme of the wedding in the book itself. Last week we featured an album with an autumnal harvest theme. This album uses our Pagemount page system to very different effect. What caught our eye in Scott and Priscilla’s case was the stylish simplicity of their red and white theme, and how well Matt and Enna of Grazier Photography had captured and reflected the details in a stunning album. The red highlights around the prints are created by trimming them to reveal the red page behind To View More >>

Bride and groom Suganiya and Brahan married in full traditional Sri Lankan Hindu wedding style in early September this year. Haran of Haran Photography traveled from his base in Wellington, New Zealand, to Melbourne to photograph the event. He says it was the longest wedding he's ever photographed (two days), but it was also his most favoured. A day full of colours, meaningful religious rituals, and decorative features made for some stunning images, and a beautiful album... Kayla and I married last December out in the notoriously wet Waitakere Ranges, at a venue called Cassels. You can read more about the day here. The day before, bad weather was forecast. Not good. So I met up with our photographer Johannes van Kan to discuss our options. Options governed by what the weather would decide to do, and that would ultimately determine the format of album we went with. If it rained we'd focus on portrait shots around the venue, more suited to a smaller, squarer album. Sunny, and we'd head to the beach and get some nice panoramic shots and go with a wide format album To View More >>

What made this wedding extra special for US photographer Andy Donnan was that it was the wedding of his grandmother - aged 83. Ruth and Jerry wanted to keep things simple and low-key, and other than the Pastor, Andy and his girlfriend were the only guests present. Andy says, "My grandmother raised me since I was a baby. Effectively, she is whom I call mum and grandma. I love her and am forever thankful. "It was so great to spend a couple of hours photographing for her and Jerry (and for the rest of our families). July is the busiest time of the year for me, so to have the free-time to witness and To View More >>
