Since our re-branding last year the front flyleaf of every Queensberry album has been embossed with the new Q-mark. Why's it there? It’s simple really: to sign our work with pride and to acknowledge the craftsmanship and detailing that goes into every album we build. We're doing the same thing that you do as a photographer when you sign your work. We're branding it. Let me explain in detail what we're doing and why, because our goal is to build a brand that will support you as our clients. § Branding is primarily about getting recognised - not a "camera" but a Leica, not a "wedding album" but To View More >>

We love quality materials, and quality workmanship, and we have the deepest respect for the people behind them. I remember our first visit to the French tannery that supplies our Contemporary leathers – being awestruck by the sheer number of colourful hides hanging in the rafters, all the one gorgeous shade, and all destined for Hermès. So when we came across the Hermès travelling Festival des Metiers (Festival of Crafts) we spared a moment to touch the leather hides and watch the leather craftsman at work. What blew us away, though, was the silk-screening demonstration. As I'm sure it does To View More >>

We're constantly reinventing Queensberry to make things better, simpler, faster and more creative. In the mid-1990s we threw away the rule book and started making our albums to order. Computer-driven mat-cutters meant our clients could design books to suit their photography, rather than making their photographs fit the books. It had never been done before. In 2000 we cut out the middle-man and began developing the world’s only worldwide door-to-door service to professional photographers. In 2001 we released Photojunction. In 2003 we were pioneers in the album printing business. (We’re still To View More >>

This weekend (September 15th and 16th) in Auckland is Live the Passion - an event aimed to educate, enthuse and inspire photographers. Last Friday was my last day working for Queensberry. Thanks to the holiday weekend, today is technically my first day as a stay-at-home mom. Excuse me if I ramble, but this is a huge change for me. It has been a whirlwind of an adventure working with the Queensberry family. And it really is just that. Family. In late 2007, I left Apple to start working in a photography studio. Designing wedding albums was a job?! Crazy. I was quickly introduced to Photojunction. By mid-2008 I had annoyed the PJ team enough that they rewarded me with a free Photojunction license for as long as the application existed. To View More >>

If you were reading our blog last month you might have heard I didn't make the best decision when it came to picking my wedding photographer, and I have less than wonderful wedding pictures to show for it. If you missed the posts they were Lessons I learnt from planning my wedding and Why I cut my photography budget. As I mentioned previously however, my husband and I were fortunate to take part in a photo shoot with kiwi photographers A Couple of Night Owls. Though these pictures can never quite replace the missed moments on our wedding day, it is amazing to have such beautiful pictures of us To View More >>

Our clients featured strongly again this year among the winners of the 2009 Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training (CPT) Awards. Sarah Wright took out the Queensberry-sponsored Portrait Album category (we featured the wedding album category winner a few days ago). Ex-CPT student Sarah submitted this design of a portrait shoot of a teenager shot in the Borde Hill Gardens - a country estate in the South of England. “The subject really wanted a rural shoot as he loved the country side and country clothing – so I utilised the Estate’s striking features like the wrought iron gates, To View More >>

Audrey and Xue (Lee) headed home to Taiwan to get married, but approached UK husband and wife photography team Carol and Nicholas Frost (Nicholas Frost Photography) to create something special in and around their current home in Aberdeen, Scotland, on their return. They chose to shoot at various locations around North East Scotland including Castle Fraser, Fyvie Castle, Balmedie Beach and Soul Casino – the idea to really capture the couple’s personalities. Nicholas says that the couple fell in love with their 10×7 Queensberry art album studio samples and commissioned the same for themselves. To View More >>
