Last week it was NZIPP in Queenstown. This week Photography By Woolf's 50th Anniversary exhibition in Wellington. They very kindly invited Heather and me to share in the family celebration afterwards. It was his birthday so ten-year-old Noah got to choose the restaurant. It was great fun, the whole extended family get on so well ... and it got me to thinking: 1. What a challenge it is to build a long standing family business that truly serves … the family. We know it. Chances are you do too. Well done to the Woolfs. 2. So many photographers got a start at Woolfs, and many of them featured in To View More >>

Well, it's a sad day. Kodak has been felled by exactly what it espoused: universal access to cameras. – The Washington Post. That's true, but it's not the whole story. Kodak was also felled by its commitment to its legacy film business … even though it was a digital pioneer too. To be clear, Kodak says it isn't closing the doors, it's continuing to restructure, but still, it's sad to see a company (and technology) decline that brought so much good into the world - art created, memories conserved and stories told. Three things are certain: 1. Our world is changing, and we have to change with To View More >>

You may remember we’d made an album featuring Christian [Oth's] images, but he'd never seen it. We were nervous. Well we finally did catch up, and he loved it. Then Johannes [van Kan’s] album of Virginia and Richard’s wedding won at WPPI. You can view his complete album on Youtube (no audio) or Vimeo (recommended: this is the To View More >>

As a little girl I loved photographs. My Mum had a big box of them. I'd spend ages playing with the images, stacking, sorting, studying the people and places (even the photos taken by my Nana, who always managed to cut people's heads off when capturing the moment). My destiny was to somehow end up working with images. So I meet this guy called Stephen … it turns out his family business makes beautiful photograph albums … I marry him :) How cool is my job? Every day I get to see beautiful love stories. How can you not be a happy person when that's the business you're in? Love, Sonya Something To View More >>

This is a very cool and quirky Save the Date made by Studio Artifice in France. The idea at the end is about “Love Padlocks", which is a relatively new trend where sweethearts affix a padlock to a fence or public fixture to symbolize their love. You lock a padlock and throw away the key. In Paris, love padlocks are usually attached to the Pont des Arts bridge but the trend has taken off all over the world. Enjoy! This is a big day for Queensberry. We're  launching a new look, a new website and a new blog ... all today. We love blogging – we've been doing it for two years, to professional photographers – and now we're looking forward to talking to you. Who are "you"? The bride and groom. A family. People sharing an occasion of love, connection and pride. People capturing a special day so they can enjoy, reflect upon and share it forever. People telling a fairy tale, a story told true. Because a story told beautifully should be true to you. You're the people in the viewfinder that we've To View More >>
