We're big animal lovers at Queensberry! Portrait Albums are perfect for pet and portrait photography, or even a mixture of the two. We saw Kelly Wolfe's album as it went through the bindery, and thought you might like to see it too! Kelly has recently returned to photography and is based in North Waikato, New Zealand. Kelly talks about the importance of having product samples. "It helps inspire ideas when we are planning a portrait session together, and also helps them start thinking about what products might best suit their own space and personal tastes – whether To View More >>

Continuing on from Katherine’s first post, 'Why Albums?', Katherine has a few more tips about how she educates her clients about printing, and some advice for photographers who might just be starting to offer albums in their packages. How do you educate your clients about the importance of printing, rather than leaving photographs on a USB? An album really is a personal preference, so I try not to push them on my clients, but now I have over 50% of my couples order albums, I love to know they will treasure these for 30, 40 maybe even 50 years! I talk about and share my albums as To View More >>

Apart from the fact that Katherine adores Queensberry albums, she personally feels you can’t beat printed images. In this day and age everyone (herself included) has thousands of photos on their phones, computers and social media accounts, but they rarely get round to printing the images. And yet when you hire a professional photographer the images are of such beautiful quality, it's such a shame to confine them to a ‘screen’, as they take on a whole new dimension when printed. Katherine gives us some sound album advice to ponder, interspersed with beautiful wedding To View More >>

This weeks 'Share of the Week' goes to James Kelly Photography, based in the UK, who shared a great Queensberry flushmount album video and words about the importance of printing. Thanks for sharing, James. There’s a wee thank you on its way to you. "Let's talk about the digital files. "The truth is, the high-resolution digital files should not be at the top of your priorities of the final product when deciding on a wedding package/photographer it should be the album. Yes by having those files, you will be able to print them as you please and make a wedding book etc but To View More >>

Online galleries are a great way to display your portfolio, but printed portfolios have way more impact . And here's something different again – a "portfolio album". Such an impressive calling card! This particular portfolio is a 10x10 Panorama Flushmount with Fine Art printing — a high-end choice. Panoramas are perfect for big, bold imagery. Have you thought about running your own workshop? So many photographers do. It’s a great way to pass on your knowledge, build your reputation, and make a bit of money while you’re at it! But where to start? Julz Glover’s “The Workshop” is about the use of online imagery to get clients’ attention and turn them into paying customers. Sonja Gardien's Studio 541 has taken on the Auckland art scene, showcasing both emerging and established photographers. We took some time out to chat about what it takes to run a gallery space, and what photographers need to know before they submit their work. Sonja wanted to create a space for photographers to exhibit, learn, meet and be inspired. “It’s important to identify a niche," she says. "There are a lot of galleries around. You need to be different. It seemed logical to utilise Studio 541, not only for a gallery, but also as a space to attend workshops and To View More >>

At-home portrait shoots are an ever-growing trend, and we're completely on board with that. Catherine Cattanach was asked by Gale and her partner Aurelian to photograph their family as they welcomed little Gala into their lives. Catherine photographed Gala's older sister Aurelia as a newborn, so she was thrilled when Gale and Aurelian asked her back. She spent the morning at their home in Paekakariki, documenting some quality time together. Gala is such a chilled-out little soul, says Catherine, while wee Aurelia was full of beans. Although Catherine loves her studio To View More >>
