SEARCH RESULTS FOR: Production

[caption id="attachment_17731" align="alignnone" width="500"] © James Yeats-Brown[/caption] James Yeats-Brown is a leading UK social photographer specialising in children's portraiture and the creation of family albums. He asks why shooting for a fee or commission shouldn't work in the social sector, since it's common in other areas of photography, and thinks a sales model based purely on speculative product upselling is dangerous these days - mainly thanks to new consumer-oriented products from Apple, Blurb, Photobox etc. This began as a comment on Ian's post suggesting the Shoot and Share model To View More >>

Everyone is a media company these days. How often have you heard that? You need to get content out there - content your audience (and customers) look forward to - words and photos, blog posts and image galleries... But media companies have editors, sub-editors, graphic artists and on and on. You have you. If it takes half an hour to create your content and half a day (or a hired hand) to format and publish it, you're screwed. It just won't happen. The only people who need high production values are people who get hired to practice them. Video producers need awesome videos. You need awesome photos. To View More >>

I wrote this post two years ago and for some reason never published it, but I think it makes some good points about simplicity and not confusing price and payoff. See what you think... We had an interesting email from a client who also deals with a certain other album company (shame on him – LOL). This company makes a big deal about simplicity … and quite right too. Anyway, he asked them if they'd consider introducing some - gulp - options, and to his frustration they said No. Now to be fair, over the years we've got better at saying No to things that compromise either the integrity of our To View More >>

There's a cool vibe to our webinars, for us anyway. It's generally early morning here, so we're just kick-starting the coffee machine (the Aussies have it even worse - sorry guys), while on the other side of the world the Brits are feet up with a beer, or sipping cocoa in their jammies. In North America it's the middle of the day, so maybe sitting down with us is a chance to take it easy too. How much do you need to charge? Click here to watch it full screen on our vimeo channel. We were a little nervous about this one because it's new content, we only had an hour to talk about a subject we could To View More >>

As soon as November comes around things get pretty crazy here at Queensberry! We always set an early cut-off date because we get a flood of orders at this time of year, and want to be able to guarantee delivery, but also because it's summer down under and we close down for three weeks. The last thing we want to happen is for one of your customers to be disappointed! We know our job is to look after your brand as well as to delight your customers. Fortunately, you're in good hands. Our customer support team and production staff are truly awesome! They arrive to work in the early hours (often To View More >>

For those of you who don't live in Godzone (New Zealand, OK?) Vaughan Smith does the drive time show on New Zealand's top music station, The Edge. He and Fletch have arguably the funniest radio show in the country and I listen to them every day. So when I saw his album working its way through production I thought I'd grab the opportunity to ask him a few girly questions. Read on, ladies, he's not just funny, he's got a soft centre. • Tell us about how it all began - where did you and Sharde meet, and how did you make her fall for you? Like any good modern day romance, it was in the workplace To View More >>

I think it's fair to say we are living in more challenging times than we were five years ago. The biggest world recession in our life time. Decreased global demand and the relentless media working 24/7 to scare the hell out of everyone everywhere. But as my cliched one-liner says, that’s the time us tough guys get going. If there’s reduced demand it's got to be about us thinking, working, and living smarter than our competition. If there’s less money going round I/you/we need to make certain we still get our fair share. And in a crazy sort of way this makes me feel that, despite the doom To View More >>

Nathalie & Emmanuel were married earlier this year at Dune du pyla in Arcachon, France. They were photographed by David Cardoso of Davidone Photography. Nathalie's dress was made by French couturier Laurent Kapelski. They also had a very cool 'day after' shoot where they could really relax and have fun with a little "trash the dress" style! Take a look at a few layouts from their Duo Pagemount 10x10 album. David also teamed up with Dolly Production to create a really beautiful film of this album. Take a look at the video below. To see more of David's work, click here. Enjoy! Anna To View More >>

Thinking about the December holiday season already? We are. It's our busiest time of the year, and because we hand-make all our albums to order, November and December can be very hectic - especially as we close down for three weeks over the NZ summer holidays. Short story: If you definitely want your Album or Press Book before the holidays, we'll need your order by the 10th of November (23 October if we're designing for you). Long story: We work really hard to get most if not all our November and December work out before the holidays, so even if you place orders in late November/early December To View More >>
