We caught up with Michael Segal at WPPI in Las Vegas and he said he had the perfect album for us to share on The Queensberry blog. Guns N’ Roses drummer, Matt Sorum and singer/dancer Ace Harper exchanged vows at the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, California. Beautiful photographs alongside a timeless album design - this 14x10 horizontal Duo is flawless! A Translucent title page adds that extra magic to any Queensberry Album. Ace is stunning in her Monique Lhuillier dress. Duo's are our signature product. Throughout this album, there are a combination of Matted and Flushmount To View More >>

Set in Vancouver Canada, Tara and Ian opted for a beautiful Garden wedding. They wed under a large maple tree near the ocean on a breezy June day. I adore everything about this 14x10 Duo album; the ultra-soft colour palette, the beautiful selection of black and white images and the lovely photographs captured by Melia from Lucida Photography. A translucent title is a lovely start to any album. I am in love with this venue! The Brock House Restaurant is where the ceremony and reception took place. The combination of the charming old house and the ocean views fit Tara To View More >>

Scott and I got married in February 2007. We were one of the first couples to marry in our group of friends, and needless to say we've been to many weddings since. I loved how our wedding turned out. We had an amazing day and we enjoyed every minute of it. However I've often joked with Scott that I'd love to get married again - to him of course - and if we did, there are many things I'd change the second time around. Fashions and trends have changed so much over the last six years. My tastes have changed too. I would wear my hair down to show off my curls, I would have more of a classic style wedding To View More >>

[caption id="attachment_16947" align="alignright" width="300"] Musée - object of desire, or waste of money?[/caption] It's hard to shake off a reputation for being expensive. It's hard to shake off a reputation for being cheap too. The question is, which reputation do you prefer? Our people get frustrated when they hear, "Oh you guys are so expensive…" In fact this week they ran an email saying, "That's not right!" Their point is we have six different product ranges, six very different price points, and most people are genuinely surprised by what we can offer. My point is that cheap doesn't To View More >>

Looking through the design workshop yesterday I discovered a book I made nearly twenty years ago. It reminded me how grateful I am to one of my mentors, the bookbinder Michael O’Brien, a man of enormous talent, insight and good humour, and without a doubt the most eccentric person I’ve ever met. I met Michael in 1994, just before he moved his workshop from Auckland to the South Island. One of the books he was working on was for a European art collector, to mount his Picasso drawings. This was a revelatory experience for me. Do people like this exist? Do they pay thousands of dollars for books? To View More >>

Nathalie & Emmanuel were married earlier this year at Dune du pyla in Arcachon, France. They were photographed by David Cardoso of Davidone Photography. Nathalie's dress was made by French couturier Laurent Kapelski. They also had a very cool 'day after' shoot where they could really relax and have fun with a little "trash the dress" style! Take a look at a few layouts from their Duo Pagemount 10x10 album. David also teamed up with Dolly Production to create a really beautiful film of this album. Take a look at the video below. Cathy and Nicolas were married in Saint-Genies-de-Fontedit, southern France on the 23th July 2011. They were photographed by Romain Negre. Here's what Romain had to say about their wedding day. "Today, thanks to Cathy and Nicolas, I discovered a new feeling… Shivering… You had me shivering several times while crying tears of joy and I can only be grateful for those magic moments spent with you! It is for these moments of sharing that I love wedding photography." Their day was romantic and full of love and happiness - take a look at a few layouts from their 18x10H Duo Pagemount album To View More >>

That's a question we've been asked a few times, and the answer is different for Press Books and Press Albums. Books are inherently more affordable than albums – although as the saying goes you can really pimp your ride with Queensberry’s Press Books: translucents, art papers, leather covers, Mayu cases, the works. In fact it’s surprised (and gratified) us a bit how many of you have gone for the upmarket options. On the other hand, with Press Albums the challenge was two-fold: to offer something you couldn’t get with our classic albums (art papers in particular) and to strike a dramatically To View More >>

Why not design your albums in Photoshop or InDesign? A lot of people do, and they're great applications – we depend on them both ourselves. A few thoughts … Adobe don't think designing your albums in Photoshop is a good idea. That's not what it's for. Adobe's page layout software is InDesign. So how much does InDesign know about wedding and portrait photographers, their workflow, their albums and their suppliers? InDesign doesn't know what DPI your lab needs, or what file type, or what size the printed layouts should be, or about bleed and trim requirements, or what colour management processes To View More >>
