I read Ian's post on the Kodak Carousel and immediately wanted to put my hand up .... (a sling back to the days of discipline at a Catholic school). I'm probably stating the obvious but I felt the message was SO important that it deserved emphasising.  Yes, I understand the business side of the message but there was this other thing that became important too. The post has a video clip from Mad Men, a sublime tv program about an advertising agency in the States in the 60's. It's about the launch of the Carousel .... Forgetting the wonderfully clever pitch, the ability to turn an electromechanical To View More >>

I was upsold to in the weekend and didn't even know it. Now that I do though, I'm ok with it. Over the last few weeks my fiancee and I have been looking out wedding bands for us both. We'd again done our homework, been put off by another raft of useless sales people and ended up where we always knew we would, with the same jeweller I'd bought her engagement ring from. I blogged about that experience a while back. An hour later I walked out of the shop with a quote for a wedding band thicker, wider, with a bigger diamond and in higher quality gold than I'd gone in thinking I wanted. Kayla made To View More >>

This clip is from Mad Men, the US TV series about '60s-era Madison Ave ad-men. The guys are planning the launch of the Kodak Carousel. Watch 'em weep. It's not the about the technology, it's not about "new", it's about...  what drives your business. Cheers, Ian To View More >>

Caring is an attractive quality we're all drawn towards on some level. We notice when people care for us, or someone else, or some thing. And it makes us feel good. Take Gail or Natasha or Sonya here at Queensberry. They make people feel good all day because they genuinely care about the person on the other end of the phone. And trust me, people notice it. When looking for a wedding venue, we noticed how much one venue cared even before we'd visited. They wanted us to have the fullest experience possible when visiting their venue, so suggested we come by one Saturday morning before a wedding, and To View More >>

James makes fabulous coffee. He brings in the beans, roasts them, cures the roast, grinds the roasted beans, and extracts the sacred juices. People know that he makes the best coffee you can get. Not many know why, or how. Not many people understand the difference between the brew they get from the Lyttelton Coffee Company and one from Anyoldcafe. They still have their coffee here because they love the food, or the staff, or the environment. Meanwhile in the background James is quietly fizzing over the arrival of some single source Cuban beans that will raise the coffee experience to another level. To View More >>

Our newest little feature has really helped promote the PJ Store, which pleases our bean counters. The store has been going long enough to start noticing trends, things that are working and things that aren't. If you're interested in promoting templates, over the next few days I'll blog about stuff I've noticed (mainly anecdotal but I think they'll help). Next post. Talk soon Danny To View More >>

You know that all important first impression? Well for a lot of people, the first impression they'll have of your business is your online Yellow Pages listing, and we spotted an interesting way some of our clients are making the most of theirs... Yellow Pages gives you the option to add search terms to your listing, to help describe what products or services you offer. What we noticed was that some of our clients were adding terms like 'Queensberry' or 'Queensberry Albums' to their listing. It's a simple idea but a powerful one too. Aligning yourself with a well known or reputable brand is a great To View More >>

Last night we released PJ Remix version 1.32 beta. We're pretty excited about some of the improvements and we've already had some great feedback. In this version we've focused heavily on refining current features. Alignment's a big one... We've added anchors (dots) to the alignment lines to indicate which apertures are perfectly aligned with each other. And we've made the snap-to guides even stickier to ensure your apertures snap in to alignment from even further out. You may have also noticed the red notification symbol above the Photojunction Store link on the home page. That'll show you the To View More >>

Version 1.27 turned up the other day .... in the usual way, unannounced, with the usual set of promises, and a small degree of suggestive insistence. I downloaded the update as requested and at first paid little attention to what might have changed ... Then I noticed the absence of the album specs from the Tools window ... Thinking I had misplaced them I soon realised that they had been relocated. What a great idea that is! Now the flowchart approach works simply and logically, tries to minimise the potential for idiocy and is much less mysterious. Suddenly I feel that PJ has moved on from being To View More >>
