Final feedback from my email, Your next album company Unless you have someone on the ground talking to people you are never going to get the real story... That comment's from the UK, where we actually do have someone on the ground – take a bow, Jo! But Jo, a Londoner, is the exception not the rule. Most of our client support people work from New Zealand. Gino, for example, gets up really early to talk to people in North America, while Kirsten works really late to help Jo with the Brits. But it's great to meet people face-to-face, so why don't we base more people locally? First, where would To View More >>

1.4 million people have seen this movie already, but don't let that stop you. A few days after selling out Boston's Symphony Hall, one of the world's best violinists went busking with his Stradivarius for 43 minutes in a DC metro station. A thousand people streamed past. A handful stopped, nobody clapped ... and he made $32. Grab a coffee and read Gene Weingarten's story in The Washington Post. He arranged the performance as "as an experiment in context, perception and priorities". Do I want to make a cheap marketing point out of this? Not really, but it makes you think. Cheers, Ian PS Sal Criscillo To View More >>

I got an email from Mark Miller today, and he's happy for me to share it and comment. I wanted to let you know how much I've been enjoying Queensberry Connects lately, specifically the posts about how QBY albums differentiate us as photographers from our competition and the idea that press-books are everywhere. I have a couple of comments/questions that I hope might add to the conversation: 1. QBY albums differentiate us as photographers - my clients love my (your) albums but they don't know who Queensberry are (I tell them all about you 'You're the best in the World' etc), but I don't think they To View More >>

We are about six weeks off having a child ... holy moley! Actually, Jo is pushing for an early arrival ... Our child will do no wrong, and it will certainly never vomit or cry inappropriately. We know this because we'll be the proud parents and our pride will blind us to our newborn's shortcomings. Or maybe it's love, not pride... Stepping down a level, our pride in our albums, the stories they tell, and their look and feel, help us to talk passionately (not blindly) about them. It's our passionate gestures and words that gives our pride a voice. It's infectious. Only six weeks!!!!!!! (or less) To View More >>

Well, we made Photojunction free ... now what? After yesterday's new final we're finalising the development schedule for the next few months. It's always been our goal to make Photojunction the software of choice for wedding and portrait photographers, and we really appreciate the support we get from the thousands of photographers who use it. But we do also recognise that there are four areas where people struggle, or where we can see strong opportunities for improvement. 1, While most people fly through the set up procedure, some people struggle. Maybe it doesn't work as they expect, and therefore To View More >>

We're going for a literary tone today, and Nina mentioned Bill Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice. Well, blogging is like being on stage, reciting your lines… with no real idea whether anyone’s listening or not. We’re not up with the big guys yet, but it’s great that our blog is now attracting some regular, thoughtful comments. – So who won this month’s free PJ subscription? Well, we considered Megan for “PJ rocks some major bootie”. But sorry Megan, Daria offered tea and bikkies as well (where in the world are you, Daria?) Then there was Nina. She writes vividly, Danny and I both To View More >>

Sorry this is a bit long... You’ll recall that in mid-February we surveyed PJ users asking how close Remix was to final release. We had a lot of responses, and some of you went to a lot of trouble over your replies – thank you. So, how did we go? And what progress have we made since then? We asked, “How likely is it that you would recommend Photojunction to friends or colleagues?” 40% of regular users gave us a score of 9/10 or 10/10. For pre-release beta software we felt that was pretty good. Click here to read some of the compliments we got. But still, a quarter of people were negative To View More >>

Image © by Brett So Danny and IanB got to travel to Focus and feel the love, but what about the rest of us? The line at the coffee machine got a bit shorter, that's what. Whoop-di-doo. As you can imagine, with Remix in beta, it's been pretty hectic for the support team recently. Lots of new people learning the software and an inbox stuffed with emails... So your Support Stars implemented a new strategy called Inbox Zero. It involves us getting everything out of the inbox by the end of each shift. We have folders for individual team members where we can transfer anything particular that they're To View More >>

"Are you CRAZY?" That's what you should say to people who beta test software. It takes a special breed to want to get into Geek Critique. It's so !@#$ frustrating! I sent ELEVEN Bug/Feedback reports yesterday (my personal record - I counted 'em), but at least I got to frustrate the dev team as much as they frustrated me. (Not really - they're my mates.) If YOU have had a frustrating time testing, we who are about to code salute you. What we're doing together is build cool software - thank you. Ian PS We're not too proud to ask. If you see the potential, or love the way it is, or the way it's going To View More >>

Hi All We're in the *studio* a lot at the moment. Here's a tour of PJ Remix from our strategic point of view ( 6 mins instead of 20! ). We touch on ideas and concepts important to us. 1. User Experience - it's gotta be cool, fun, and easy to use. 2. Pragmatic - it's gotta work, gotta be productive. 3. Integrate - it's gotta know about your lab and album vendor. We'd love to hear what you think of our ideas... You'll get more out of the higher quality video IMHO. Higher Quality Lower Quality Cheers Danny To View More >>
